However, when i opened IE instead, i could get to a music site, but again no sound played. Sorry for the late response. Tried installing the driver, regardless of the fact that I knew it had to recognize the sound card before it would install the driver, worth a shot, tried it, still no luck. Apparently it seems to be a problem not too many people are having. I’m running 64 and yes I used one of those.

I am currently installing an older version of 7 that I have to see if that fixes the problem. I have a Dell XPS notebook. This seems to be a HUGE problem with the dv series across many forums with no real answer yet as to what the cause is. It can only be used with stereo microphones, and apparently HP’s microphones are not stereo because I was hardly getting any sound with that box checked.

Problem is that windows install generic drivers for it and when I try to install Windows Audio is started and set as auto. So it would not let me install it. Then apply and OK, and totally get out of all of the sound menus.
